Walking the Cinque Terre – Fitzamblers

DAY 1 : Start Levanto
Pick up at Genoa airport and welcome by your France Outdoors guide and transfer to the 4-star Hotel Argento with transfer time of around 1 hour 30 minutes. The hotel is located close to Levanto centre town, about 20 minutes walk to the sea front. Levanto is a small beautiful resort town surrounded by a green valley of pine forests, olive groves, vineyards and small medieval villages. It is one of the most lively villages of the Cinque Terre.

Day 2 : Walk Monterrosso – Levanto
For our first walk we take the train to Monterosso. After spending some time in Monterosso, the largest of the Cinque Terre villages, you will walk back to Levanto with beautiful views overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and a stop at the view point San Antonio del Mesco.

Day 3 : Corniglia – Vernazza
After alighting the train at Corniglia we head off along the famous Cinque Terre Coastal Path to reach the charming village of Vernazza perched on its headland. You can take time to visit this colourful village after your walk.

Day 4 : Free day
On your free day you may like to take the train to Genoa, relax on the beach, or spend more time soaking up the atmosphere of the Cinque Terre villages.
An option is boat trip to visit the village of Portofino with guide.

Day 5 : Walk Montaretto – Bonassola
The goal for today’s walk is the magnificently situated hillside village of Montaretto high above Bonassola. After a transfer by train to Bonnassola we will gradually wind our way up to Bonassola, via a spectacular headland and on through olive and vine terraces. There is the opportunity for lunch in a café before returning to the hotel via waterfalls, a church and Bonassola’s castle. Return either by train or by walking to Levanto.

Day 6: Corniglia Riomaggiore
Take the train in the morning to Corniglia. Begin your walk by a climb with spectacular coastal views and descend to the village of Manarola where you can stop for a visit. The last part to Riomaggiore is short and easy.

Day 7: Vernazza to Monterosso
Vernazza is arguably the prettiest of the five Cinque Terre villages with its colourful houses winding down to its natural harbour, protected by a rocky headland. Today we walk from Vernazza to Monterosso, either along the famous lower coastal path or on quieter paths in the hills. Both walks complete the final section of the coast path which links the five villages of the Cinque Terre.
From Vernazza we wind our way to a viewpoint high above the village. We then return to the pretty harbour with its cafés before heading along the final section of the coastal path to Monterosso.
The path ascends through woodland and descends through lemon groves to Monterosso old town. Here there is plenty of time to explore before heading to the station for our train back to Levanto.
