Unique Destinations – Walking Holidays Europe
France has the largest variety of unique hiking holidays Europe, between the French Alps and the Pyrenees, the beautiful Mediterranean island of Corsica and the coast of the Côte d’Azur. Our Tour du Mont Blanc trip is popular with hikers the world over, a 7 day trek around the highest mountain in Europe with accommodation in mountain huts and charming Alpine chalet hotels.
The most adventurous will try the Mont Blanc ascent, a challenging but sensational climb to the 4800+m summit. For a less challenging option in the same area, try our centre based Mont Blanc walking trip.
The GR or Grande Randonnée routes are a network of long distance walking trails that criss cross Europe from the tip of Spain and Portugal through France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Italy. Principally on small walking paths, these trails are the ideal way to explore a region. We propose trips on the GR58 in the Queyras National park, the Alpine portion of the GR5 and on the GR10 in the French Pyrenees.
Spain is the ideal getaway for walking holidays Europe even in the off season, with its mild climate, cheap prices and accessibility by air from Ireland and the UK. Less frequented than the better known walking areas of the Alps, the Spanish mountain areas of the Sierra Nevada, Sierra de Guara and the Picos de Europa offer unique vistas in unspoilt countryside. We also provide guided walking holidays in the cultural region of Spanish & French Basque country.
More variety awaits in Italy, with coastal walks on the Amalfi Coast or Cinque Terre, or mountain hiking holidays in the Gran Paradiso, Dolomites or Monte Rosa areas. Our guided walking holiday on the GR58 Queyras crosses into Italy by the high mountain passes on the border, accessible only by foot.
Austria & Slovenia offer more rolling mountain terrain, and the coastal ambience of Croatia on the tranquil Adriatic coast is an assured quiet getaway on your walking holidays Europe in an unspoilt destination.
Hiking Holidays – Local Experts
We pride ourselves in walking all of our itineraries ourselves; when we’re not in the office here in the southern French Alps on the border with Provence, we’re out hiking, walking and riding the very trails you will visit on our guided walking holidays. Vincent, co founder of France Outdoors, is first and foremost a qualified mountain guide and guides a large part of our trips himself. When he’s not guiding, he calls on some of our team of English speaking local guides. On our blog you will find some advice and tips on preparing your holidays and choosing your destinations.
