Itinerary – Walking Slovenia

Day 1: Arrival
Fly from Dublin to Venice Marco Polo airport with Ryanair flight FR831, arriving at 18h50. Meet with your guide at the airport and transfer to your 4* Hotel Kranjska Gora in Kranjska Gora, ideally located at foot of Mount Vitranc.
The journey from airport is approximately 2h30.
Dinner not included (late arrival).
Day 2 : Guided Walk – Discover the area.
Today you will start mid/ late morning and will transfer by bus (15 min) to the village of Martuljek. You will walk back following a balcony track on south the faces of Tamarca mountain all the way back to Kranjska Gora, lovely views of Kranjska Gora and the whole Julian alps.

Day 3 : Walk Vintgar gorges and discover Bled
Transfer in the morning (1 hour) to Bled, entrance of the gorges.
First you will walk the superb Vintgar Gorges. This easy walk is a perfect start of your day. Made of a 1600m wooden walkway through the gorge, built in 1893 and continually rebuilt since, it criss-crosses the swirling Radovna River four times over rapids, waterfalls and pools before reaching 16m-high Šum Waterfall.
In the afternoon once in Bled you can stop on the way to Bled Castle, or continue and take a lake loop walk around the lake with the climb of Osjnica hill overlooking the lake involving more climbing but offering an amazing view of lake Bled.

Day 4 : Italy- Rifugio Luigi Zacchi.
Today you will take a short bus transfer, cross the Italian border and enjoy a superb walk on the Italian side of the Julian Alps from the Laggo di Fusine. The walk up to the hut is really spectacular at the foot of the huge limestone cliffs of the Triglav National Park. Then enjoy a stop at the hut where you can taste a typical Italian dish including the traditional pasta pomodoro! Many options to extend the walk to La Porticina / Vratica pass (1850m).

Day 5 : Karavanke Alps – Austrian Border – Tamar Valley
Today the B walkers will walk in the Karavanke Alps which are a mountain chain of the Southern Limestone Alps at the border of Slovenia (South) and Austria (North). They are 120km in length from East to West, one of the longest in Europe. You will get to a point where the 3 borders, Slovenia, Austria and Italy meet.
The C walkers will enjoy a walk in the valley of Tamar. They will pass by the world famous ski jump area West of Kranjska Gora and will walk to Planinski dom Tamar hut. The area there is spectacular surrounded by the jagged peaks of Julian Alps.

Day 6: Ljubljana visit and transfer to Piran
After an early transfer by bus (1h15min) you will get to Ljubljana.
You will have the morning to visit the capital and largest city of Slovenia. Throughout history it has been influenced by its geographical position; the doorway to the Slavic world and the window to Germanic and Latin cultures. You can get a street lunch in one of the numerous cafés of the town.
Around mid afternoon depart to Piran (2 hours transfer) where you will get a taste of Italy. The small town of Piran is located along the 46 km coast of Slovenia and finishing the trip there will make your Slovenian trip more exciting again. Piran is a gem of a little town!
You will get to Piran late afternoon leaving you some time before dinner.
You will stay in the 4 star hotel Piran in Piran.

Day 7: City walk to discover Piran
In the morning with your guides you will discover Piran from your hotel, walking through a picturesque path that lead you through town and also along the coast to enjoy the area at its best.
Free afternoon in Piran.

Day 8 : Lucija to Strunjan Nature park
Short transfer to Lucija. This loop walk offers some extraordinary views of the Croatian region, the Northern Istria and also the coast of Italy. Once arrived at Strunjan park, you can extend the walk by a circular coastal walk with some parts at the top of high cliffs offering superb view over the Adriatic. Possibility to go for a swim at the end of the walk at Strunjan beach. Return to Piran.
Stay in Piran for the night.

Day 9 : Farewell and Bon Voyage!
Transfer to Venice Marco Polo airport to catch the Ryanair flight FR830 at 21h50 to Dublin.
