Walking Croatia Wicklow Walkers 2024

Day 1 : Arrival – Transfer from Split to Makarska
Pick up at Split Airport to match the Ryanair flight from Dublin (not incl) and transfer to Makarska (around 1h30 transfer) to the 4 star hotel Miramare ideally located in the centre of Makarska.
Briefing on the bus with your local leader.
Dinner not included (late arrival).

Day 2 : Gornja Brela – Baska Voda
In the morning short transfer of 25 min to Gornja Brela (400 m altitude) for a walk along the Napoleon track, a mix of mountain and coastal walk. From there you will take what it possibly the most spectacular walk of the week with beautiful views of the coast. Finish in the village of Brela on the coast and an opportunity to go for a swim!

Day 3 : Biokovo Mountain Walk – Svetu Jure
In the morning, transfer (about 1 hour) to walk below the summit of Sveti Jure, the highest peak in the Biokovo chain with spectacular views of the coast and the Adriatic sea from the view points of Vosok and Sinjal. Transfer back to Makarska in the afternoon (40 min).

Day 4 : Omis Coastal Walk
In the morning, short transfer (about 30 min) just before Omiš. The walk will lead us to Omis fortress and towards Kula the highest peak of Omiska Dinara mountains (Last climb to Kula for the fastest walkers). It is the last prominent point on the south-eastern end of the undulated mountain ridge, thus offering extensive views. Then descent to the bank of Cetina river. All groups finish in Omis, great old city centre and plenty of bars to finish the day ! Transfer back to Makarska (40 min).

Day 5 : Free day
Today you can explore Makarska and discover its picturesque harbour, visit St Mark’s church or the Museum of fish, crabs and shells or just enjoy the town atmosphere and its pebble beach…
Take a trip to Split, the second largest city of Croatia is one of the oldest city in the area. A lot of things to visit: Diocletian palace, churches and squares Or why not take a boat excursion to one of the island around Makarska…

Day 6 : Botanic Garden & Coastal Walk
You will walk at the foot of the Biokovo mountains. Short transfer in the morning.
This superb mountain walk at the foot of Biokovo mountains will be a good introduction to the area, you will get amazing views of Makarska bay, the Island of Brac, Hvar island and you will stop on the way to visit of local Botanic Garden rich of mountains plants and flowers. At the end of the walk you will take a trail along the coast, a great way to finish the walk and spot nice swimming places !

Day 7 : Walk to Omis and Cetina river cruise
Transfer to Omis in the morning. Walk along the Cetina river gorge and river boat trip to Omis at the end. Time to visit the town, which was a fortified town in the Middle Ages and the remains of these medieval fortifications can still be seen today in the tower on Fosal, the cliff fortifications and the ruins of the fortress Fortica on the hill above. For centuries the river was harnessed to operate water mills along the shore and the stone buildings can still be seen today.

Day 8 : Farewell!
Transfer after lunch to the town of Trogir, superb medieval town. Luggages will stay on the bus and you will enjoy a free afternoon before your transfer to Split airport from Trogir (20 min transfer).
Ryanair flight FR1381- Split (22h15) to Dublin (00h25).
