Walk on the Makarska Riviera!
About 60% of Croatia’s surface is mountainous which offers a wide choice for hiking. The Dalmatia mountains are the highest and most deserted ones in the Dinaric range, they overlook the Adriatic sea and offer fantastic vistas. Based in Makarska, very central on the coast, this human sized town offers the perfect place to enjoy both sea and mountain being set at the foot of Biokovo massif.
Everyday two levels of walks will be offered, both with a professional mountain leader (if 13 or more participants, one guide if less than 13 participants).
Airport: Fly to Split airport from Dublin.
Hotel: Aparthotel Miramare 4 star in Makarska.
Included:
– Private group transfer from Split Airport to the Miramare Aparthotel ****, and return.
– 2 Mountain leaders to guide 2 levels of walks during the trip.
– 1 mountain leader if less than 13 participants.
– Private transfers to join the walks.
– 7 nights in the Miramare Aparthotel (Based on two people sharing). The Miramare Aparthotel is a 4-star hotel, excellently situated a few minute’s walk form the beach.

Thu. 22nd Sept.: Arrival – Transfer from Split to Makarska
Pick up at Split Airport to match the Ryanair flight from Dublin (Not Incl. FR 1380 – Dublin 5:15 pm to Split 9:15 pm) and transfer to Makarska (around 1h30 transfer) to the 4 star aparthotel Miramare ideally located in the centre of Makarska. Possibility to get food later in the evening in Makarska in a snack fast food.
Briefing on the bus with your local leader.

Fri. 23rd Sept. : Biokovo mountain – Makarska area
For your first day you will walk straight from the hotel at the foot of the Biokovo mountains.
This superb mountain walk at the foot of Biokovo mountains will be a good introduction to the area, you will get amazing views of Makarska bay, the Island of Brac, Hvar island and you will stop on the way to visit of local Botanic Garden rich of mountains plants and flowers. At the end of the walk you will take a trail along the coast, a great way to finish the walk and spot nice swimming places !

Sat. 24th Sept : Omiska Dinara mountain
In the morning, short transfer (about 30 min) just before Omiš. The walk will lead us to Omis fortress and towards Kula the highest peak of Omiska Dinara mountains (Last climb to Kula for the fastest walkers). It is the last prominent point on the south-eastern end of the undulated mountain ridge, thus offering extensive views. Then descent to the bank of Cetina river. All groups finish in Omis, great old city centre and plenty of bars to finish the day !
Transfer back to Makarska (40 min).

Sun. 25th Sep : Buhovac Mountain – Baska Voda
In the morning short transfer of 25 min to Gornja Brela (400 m altitude). From there you will take what it possibly the most spectacular walk of the week. First walk a beautiful suspended valley to the church Sv. Nikola (Saint Nicolas) , you will feel in a real mountain environment. For the fastest walkers, possibility to climb to Bukovac mountain (1250 m, challenging walk), and everyone will enjoy a spectacular descent to Brela, on a nice track zigzagging along the mountain and offering breathtaking views of the whole coast from Hvar island to Split. The last part of the walk is an easy and gentle walk from Brela to Baska Voda along the sea.

Mon. 26th Sept. : Free Day
Today you can explore Makarska and discover its picturesque harbour, visit St Mark’s church or the Museum of fish, crabs and shells or just enjoy the town atmosphere and its pebble beach…
Take a trip to Split, the second largest city of Croatia is one of the oldest city in the area. A lot of things to visit: Diocletian palace, churches and squares Or why not take a boat excursion to one of the island around Makarska…

Tue. 27th Sept. : Mosor mountain, Veliki Kabal peak
Morning transfer (about 1h15) to village of Gornje Sitno (590 m), where we start our walk to the highest peak of Mosor mountain, Veliki Kabal (1339 m). Fabulous view over Split and the sea.

Wed. 28th Sept. : Biokovo . Krst (750 m) / Borovac (1253 m)
Another fantastic walk in the Biovoko mountains. Walk from the hotel in the direction of Makar. You will then follow a nice dirt road in the direction of the village of Veliko Brdo. Then many possibilities of challenges to Krst climb or even Borovac for the most courageous !

Thur. 29th Sept. : FAREWELL! Transfer in the morning to Split airport to match Ryanair flight to Dublin (Not Inc. FR 1341 – Split 10:05 pm to Dublin 00:10 am.
