Walking Croatia – Fitzamblers 2027

Day 1: Arrival – Transfer from Split to Makarska
Pick up at Split Airport (flight details not yet available) and transfer to Makarska (around 1h45 transfer) to the 4* Park Hotel ideally located in the town center and near the beach of Makarska.
Welcome meeting with your local leader.
Dinner not included (late arrival if 2027 times similar to 2026).
Day 2: Gornja Brela – Baska Voda
Morning transfer (25 minutes) to Gornja Brela (400 m) for a walk along the historic Napoleon Trail, combining mountain paths with spectacular coastal scenery. This is arguably the finest walk of the week, offering magnificent views over the Adriatic and the islands beyond. The walk finishes in the coastal village of Brela, where there may be time for a refreshing swim before returning to Makarska. Breakfast & dinner included. Lunch not included.
Day 3: Biokovo Mountain Walk – Sveti Jure
Morning transfer (approximately 1 hour) into Biokovo Nature Park for a walk in the surroundings of Sveti Jure (1,762 m), the highest summit of the Biokovo range. Enjoy breathtaking views from the viewpoints of Vošac and Sinjal, overlooking the Adriatic Sea and the Dalmatian islands. Return to Makarska in the afternoon (40 min.).

Day 4: Omiš Coastal Walk
Morning transfer (30 minutes) to Dugi Rat, near Omiš. Today’s walk follows the spectacular coastline towards the historic town of Omiš. The longer walk includes a climb to the Church of Our Lady of Stomorica, while the easier option enjoys excellent coastal views before following the Cetina River into town. There will be time to explore Omiš and relax in one of its many cafés before returning to Makarska.

Day 5: Free Day
Explore Makarska’s waterfront, stroll through the old town, or simply relax on the town’s pebble beach.
Optional excursions can be arranged, including a boat trip to nearby Dalmatian islands such as Brač (and, subject to schedule, Hvar), where you can discover picturesque harbour towns, swim in crystal-clear waters and experience the relaxed Dalmatian island lifestyle. Alternatively, spend the day in Split, exploring the UNESCO-listed Diocletian’s Palace, lively cafés and bustling waterfront promenade.

Day 6: Botanical Garden & Coastal Walk
A short morning transfer brings you to the foothills of the Biokovo Mountains. Today’s walk offers wonderful views across Makarska Bay towards the islands of Brač and Hvar. Along the way you’ll visit the charming Kotišina Botanical Garden, home to many of the region’s native mountain plants. The walk finishes on the coast, where there may be an opportunity for a swim.

Day 7: Cetina Gorge Walk & River Cruise
Transfer to Omiš in the morning. Walk through the spectacular Cetina River Gorge before enjoying a relaxing river cruise back to Omiš. Time to visit the town, which was a fortified town in the Middle Ages and the remains of these medieval fortifications can still be seen today in the tower on Fosal, the cliff fortifications and the ruins of the fortress Fortica on the hill above. For centuries the river was harnessed to operate water mills along the shore and the stone buildings can still be seen today.

Day 8: FAREWELL!
Program assuming flight times remain similar to 2026.
Enjoy a relaxed morning in Makarska before transferring to Split Airport. En route, stop to visit the UNESCO World Heritage town of Trogir, one of the best-preserved medieval towns on the Adriatic. Wander its narrow stone streets, admire the Romanesque Cathedral of St. Lawrence and soak up the atmosphere along the charming waterfront promenade.
