Queyras 3000 Trek – Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrival – Transfer to Cervières (1622 m).
In the stunning Queyras you will hike to one or more 3000 peaks every day, walk on fantastic ridges and discover magnificent villages. You will explore this superb part of the South Alps using the GR5 or GR58.
Transfer to the hotel “Le Petit Cerf” in Cervières (1622m), located above Briancon and at the door step of the Queyras.
Night in hotel “Le Petit Cerf” in Cervières .

DAY 2: Cervieres (1622 m) – Brunissard (1755 m)
Starting from the hotel you will first walk towards the hamlet of Le Laus. Then following the Blétonnet stream and follow for a while the botanic path. You will enjoy some informations on the local vegetation.
Then you will walk to the Izoard pass with its amazing landscape the “Casse Déserte”. Famous from the Tour de France cycling, it is one of the most famous pass of the Alps. You can have a break at the Napoleon hut at the Izoard pass.
Then you will walk down to Brunissard, for a little while following the Izoard road and then walking along the Izoar Stream.
Join “Les Bons enfants” gite for the night.

DAY 3: Brunissard (1755 m) – Chateau Ville Vielle (1400 m)
You will start going East walking up in the wood through larch trees forest and nice meadows. Then once at the Tronchet pass (2347 m), you will follow the GR58 going down towards the Souliers (1800 m) and Meyries hamlets (1700m). You then join the Astragales gite in Chateau Ville-Vieille where you will spend the night.

DAY 4: Chateau Ville Vielle (1400 m) – Saint Véran (2040m)
From Chateau Ville Vieille, you take the forest track heading South West, climbing through the forest to “Sommet Bucher (2255m) offering a nice place to have a break and a view on the surroundings peaks. Then walk to Chapelle St Simon with its small lake before starting to go down to Moline-St Veran valley. You will be arriving at La Chalp hamlet, stay on the same side of the strem “L’aigue Blanche”, do ot cross St Veran raod and follow the stream up to Le Raux hamlet. There last climb up to St Veran village, one of the highest villages in Europe, charming place.
Ascent: 540 m Descent: 1130m Distance: 16 km

Harder option: same start but after Sommet Buchet instead of walking by the East around Pointe de la Selle, you walk by the West up to “Fromage” pass at 2300m, on the GR5. Then walk up towards Estronques pass (2640m) before going down following “Torrent de Lamaron” path and arriving to Le Raux hamlet. Then again last climb up to St Veran village.
Ascent: 1520 m Descent: 930m Distance: 22 km
DAY 5: Saint Véran (2040m) – Agnel hut (2580m)
From St Veran 2 options: you can start walking directly by the old upper Canal track above St Veran and overlooking at the main track going the Clausis valley. Or you can take the shuttle bus to Clausis Chapel (to be paid on site- €5/eprs in 2022, we recommend early start) as this will reduce a little a long day. Then, you will walk up to St Veran Pass (2844 m)and from there to the Caramantran summit (3025 m). There, with clear weather, you will discover the Monte Viso (3841 m). You are at the border with Italy. Then you go down to Chamoussiere col (2884 m) and then to Agnel Hut.
From St Veran: Ascent: 1020 m Descent: 440m Distance: 15,5 km From Chapelle Clausis: Ascent: 630 m Descent: 440m Distance: 9 km Breakfast & dinner included. Picnic lunch not included.
DAY 6: Agnel hut (2580m) – l’Echalp (1697 m)
Today you will walk by different mountain lakes. You will start walking North to the lac de l’Eychassier (2815m) at the foot of the Foréand pick (3081m). Then you will walk down to the Foréand lake. Then joining the GR58 you will pass by the Egorgéou lake and walk down the Bouchouse valley to l’Echalp where is your Gite “Degrès 7”.
Ascent: 340 m Descent: 1210 m Distance: 14 km

DAY 7: l’Echalp (1697 m) to Les Fonts de Cervières (2040m) Transfert to Cervières.
In the morning taxi transfer from the gite to Abries at the start of the walk.
Thi is a long stage but a beautiful one. You will follow the GR58 walking towards Malrif mountain hamlet and to the Grand Lau lake (2600m) with its blue to green colours leading up to the Malrif pass (2866 m) at the foot of the Grand Glaiza summit (3286 m). Then you will walk down towards les Fonts de Cervières (the hut is closed for building work this year) where you will wait for the taxi to pick you up to transfer to Cervières where you will spend the night at hotel “Le Petit Cerf”.

DAY 8: Farewell!
