Unique Destinations : Cycling Holidays Europe

France is the European cycling destination supreme, a mecca for road cyclists the world around with the Tour de France cycling competition, that often passes right by our offices here in France Outdoors! The names have become almost mythical, and any cycle enthusiast will recognise : Alpe d’Huez, Mont Ventoux, Col du Tourmalet. What better cycling holidays in France than to ride in the path of the greats, taking on the challenge of our Alpine climbs and culminating with the 21 bends of the Alpe d’Huez.

Another to do ride is the Raid Pyrenean, one of the most epic Europe Cycling routes that starts at the Atlantic coast to finish on the Mediterranean, in a one week raid through the quiet roads and over the isolated Cols (mountain passes) of the Pyrenees.

For those looking for a more leisurely or even easy cycling holiday, France has something too. take the opportunity to ride with your guide through the fragrant lavendar fields and secluded vineyards of the Luberon region, setting of Peter Mayle’s A Year in Provence. Or for an unique and unforgettable experience away from the crowds and hustle and bustle of the main roads, try our favourite local rides on our Provence-Alps cycling trip, a moderate ride through a beautiful little-frequented between the high mountains and the Provence.

Guided cycling holidays in Europe

Our guides are local and keen cyclists themselves and will know how to attend to your needs, ever present in the guide vehicle as you serpent the smooth roads on your Cycling Holidays Europe trip. The support vehicle carries all your luggage on point-to-point trips, so no dealing with the extra challenge of pannier bags! An real necessity on Alpine trips, which are almost impossible to manage without luggage transport.

As well as transport, they will give you a daily briefing, including Europe cycling route maps, and will position themselves at important intersections to make sure the group follows the right route. They will also set up snack & water stops regularly throughout the ride, and will carry your day bag, extra clothes and gear – so you don’t have to lug anything to the top of the Col de la Bonette or col d’Izoard!

Your guide will be visible throughout the ride, and you can flag down the guide vehicle if at any stage you need anything support. They will speak English, and are familiar with basic bike maintenance so can help out with the minor niggles that can happen on any bike ride.
