Hotel "Les Bergers"

Day 1- ARRIVAL IN PRA-LOUP:
Join us in "Pra-Loup" resort, which overlooks the "Ubaye Valley" near "Barcelonnette". Accommodation is the 2 Star hotel "Les Bergers", a comfortable hotel with access to swimming pool and sauna. Meet up with Vincent, the France Outdoors Mountaineer in the evening to discuss the weeks' itinerary.

Day 2 - LET'S DISCOVER THE REGION.
Let us enjoy the spectacular views over the "Ubaye" and "Bachelard" valleys. As we walk to the summit of "Le Queyron", we might come across some of the wildlife inhabitants, such as Chamois (mountain goats) or birds of prey, like eagles.
Optional activities: You may try tandem paragliding, available any day.

 

"La Grande Séolane" summit

Day 3 - "LA GRANDE SEOLANE"
From Pra-Loup, you can climb the highest peak of the Ubaye valley, "La grande Séolane" where you might spot some "Edelweiss". We could instead climb to the peak of "La Tête de Sestrière" offering a less challenging alternative with beautiful panoramas over the valley.
Optional activities: Go mountain biking in Pra-Loup. Go as high as the ski lift brings you to test your skill.

Ruburent upper lake.

Day 4 - ONE FOOT IN FRANCE, ONE FOOT IN ITALY.
From the "Col de Larche", you will journey through one of the most beautiful pathways of the Provence Alps. Along the "L'Orenaye Valley" we will approach a the beginning of Italy through the "Ruburent pass". You will be amazed by the upper part of Ruburent lake, which is ideal for swimming. On descent, we will follow a wild rocky path leading us to the village of "Argentera".
Optional activities: Cycle the "tour de France" route from Jausiers to Col de La Bonette- 24km; 1500m, from Pra-Loup to Col d'Allos- 17km; 1100m or  from Col de La Cayolle- 26km; 1200m.

Hydrospeed challenge!

Day 5 - FREE DAY, MARKET IN BARCELONNETTE
Spend the morning in "Barcelonnette" and experience the local food and craft on offer at the market. Lunch is not included today, as you should taste the scrumptious foods provided by local restaurants. Enjoy an afternoon to do as you wish.
Optional activities: Try white water rafting or hydrospeeding.

Day 6 - DISCOVER THE REMAINS OF MAGINOT MILITARY LINE
From larche village, you will walk to Mallemort pass or "Batterie de Viraysse", fort built to prevent Italian attacks during the WWII. Magnificent views and probably meeting with the local wildlife, les marmottes.
Optional activies: Attempt mountain biking from Pra-Loup.

Enjoy a swim in glaciers' lake.

Day 7 - DISCOVER THE HEART OF MERCANTOUR NATIONAL PARK;
Today, from the pass "La Cayolle" we will encounter the emerald lake of "La Petite Cayolle". Meet with some locals chamois, bouquetins (ibex) and marmottes and perhaps some eagles for those who climb "Mont Pelat".
Optional activities: Go mountain biking.

Day 8 - Farewell!
Enjoy your last morning before taking your transfer to the airport.
