From Mont Blanc to Briancon the capital of the French south Alps, you will take the best of the GTA and GR5. This exclusive trek will bring you to some amazing and undiscovered part of the French Alps, like Beaufortain, Vanoise, Thabor and also coming to the end an incursion in  the “Vallée étroite” (or narrow valley) at the border of France and Italy.
The best mix of hotels 2 to 3 max per rooms and multisharing in huts will offer you the best experience with comfort and total immersion in the mountain.
During the trip your main luggage will be transferred every day (except day 5 in Felix Faure hut) so just carry your day pack with you.

Day 1: ARRIVAL – Join Les Contamines (1182 m)
Pick up at Geneva airport, the group will be welcome by the France Outdoors Guide for the trip and transfer to Les Contamines (1h 30 min) at the foot of the Mont Blanc range and the famous dome des Miages to your hotel (2 to 3 per rooms is uneven number).

Day 2: Les Contamines (1182 m) – Roseland lake (1550 m).
For the first day you will start from les Contamines to the end of the valley where you will pass by the Notre Dame de la Gorge church before taking the classic TMB trail to the Bonhomme pass (2510 m). The rest of the walk is the descent or the GR 5 to the Roseland col, famous for the tour de France!
Stay in a gite or hut multisharing for the night.

Day 3: Roseland lake (1550m) – Peisey Nancroix  (1320 m)
In the morning set off to a balcony path overlooking at the lake and climb up to the Bresson pass (2469 m), at the foot of a huge iconic rocky mountain the “Pierra Menta”. The descent is through the valley of Ormette, its hamlets to the village of Valezan. From there, transfer to your hotel (2 to 3 per rooms) in Peisey Nancroix.
Walk: Distance 17 km   Ascent 880 m   Descent 1450 m

Day 4: Peisey Nancroix  (1320 m) – Tignes (2090 m)
Today you will enter the Vanoise National Park, the first national park set up in France. Pass at the foot of the giant “Mont Pourri” and the “Dome de la Sache” following the long and lovely valley of Plan des Eaux. Then you will get to the Palet pass (2653 m) before going down to the ski resort of Tignes to your hotel (2 to 3 per rooms).

Day 5: Tignes (2090 m) – Felix Faure hut (2551 m)
This stage will offer probably the most dramatic views and ambiance of the whole trip. You will quickly leave Tignes behind you to enter the Vanoise vallon again, where with a bit of luck you will see wildlife. Then coming the Vanoise pass you will be at the foot of the huge “Grande Casse” mountain and will stay in the hut Felix Faure for the night (multisharing). Note that you won’t find your main luggage tonight.

Day 6: Felix Faure hut (2551 m) – Pralognan (1430 m)
An easy and shorter day today, mainly downhill so you can enjoy a free afternoon in Pralognan la Vanoise and relax your feet ! It is possible, (no guide, self guided) to extend the day and enjoy a longer walk with superb views of the glaciers all the way to La Valette lake before going down to Pralognan to your hotel (2 to 3 per rooms).
Walk: Distance 7 km   Ascent 100 m   Descent 1150 m

Day 7: Pralognan (1430 m) – Valfrejus (1552 m)
A long and steady climb in the morning surrounded by the Vanoise on one side and the Peclet Polset Aiguilles on the other side, and another opportunity to observe local wildlife like Chamoix or Ibex. You will then get to the Chaviere pass (2796 m) before going down to the Maurienne valley where you will get a transfer to the ski resort of Valfrejus to your hotel (2 to 3 per rooms).

Day 8: Valfrejus (1552 m) – Vallée Etroite (1783 m).
A really lovely walk where you will cross the South Alps border at the “Vallée Etroite” pass (2434 m) and enter the Hautes Alpes county of France. Forest of Larche trees and “nearly guaranteed” sunshine on the menu! Stay in a hut multisharing for the night Walk: Distance 15 km   Ascent 1050 m   Descent 850 m

Day 9: Vallée Etroite (1783 m) – Briancon (640 m)
For your last day you will explore the Clarée river region, or Nevache, a splendid part of the Alps, really remote. In the morning climb the Vallon pass (2645 m) before going down to Nevache for a drink before your transfer to Briancon and your hotel (2 to 3 per rooms).

Day 10: Farewell!
Spend the morning at your own pace in Briancon before the transfer to Lyon airport (2h 30 min).
